On Tuesday 13 May, the Southwest Finland District Court sent to prison a 37-year-old man who is suspected of causing the death of his baby.
According to Police information, the event occurred on 9 May in Oripää, a small municipality in Southwest Finland, located 50 kilometers away from the city of Turku.
The victim is a 4-month-old girl whose body had signs of external injuries which had not been self-inflicted.
Police confirmed on Tuesday that the suspect "is the father of the child."
According to newspaper Iltalehti, information from the district court revealed that the suspect is a man born in 1983 and residing in Oripää.
At this preliminary stage of the investigation, the police have disclosed no details about how the crime was committed.
The decision of the district court has been ordered to be secret while the police investigation is ongoing.
