Concern about Mikkeli

Finnish authorities say 812,400 Covid-19 tests have been carried out to date. An estimated 7,500 people (90% of those who contracted the disease) have already recovered.

On Monday 14 September, authorities were seriously concerned about the situation in the city of Mikkeli (located about 230 kilometres northeast from Helsinki), where more than 300 people have been exposed to the virus recently.

The city authorities have decided that school students in grades 4-9 remain studying from home for the next two weeks (September 15-27). The measure has been suggested by the South Savo Social and Health Care Authority (Essote).
