EduExcellence, a Finnish global education service provider, and Akademia Scandinavia, a Moroccan consulting and training company, have signed a business agreement on degree programmes. This agreement opens a new gate for young talents from North Africa and the Middle East to study in Finland.

The business professional qualification training program is implemented by Helsinki Business College (HBC). The institution already selected in April a group of 5 young students, 3 women and 2 men from Morocco. They will be the first group to start a 1.5-year professional qualification programme in Business studies in August 2020.

HBC conducted the tests online on 16 April. Those who passed the exam and fulfilled the other requirements, mainly regarding previous education and tuition fees, earned the right to study for a year and a half in the Finnish capital city.

"But their academic options will not end there because if they succeed and complete the degree they will be qualified to continue their studies at a University of Applied sciences," explains Ria Öhrnberg-Autio, the founder of Akademia Scandinavia.

According to a press release by EduExcellence, Qualification in Business (QB) is a concise, English-language secondary education programme that provides students with comprehensive basic skills in business, marketing, logistics and entrepreneurship.

Internships

In addition to contact and distance learning, the QB programme includes for instance business cooperation and internships.

"The QB programme gives the student both excellent working life skills and an opportunity to continue their university studies," EduExcellence confirms.

“Akademia Scandinavia wants to increase its role as an on-demand degree operator of undergraduate students, especially in North Africa and Middle East countries. So far, only a small proportion of students going abroad end up in Finland, but there is a great interest in the Finnish education system. Our ambition is to promote Finnish top-level studying opportunities in North Africa,” says Öhrnberg-Autio.

“The collaboration with Akademia Scandinavia and HBC offers a great pathway to Finnish higher education, especially for our three shareholder universities”, says Tuija Pulkkinen, CEO of EduExcellence.
