Ylläs selected as one of the best outdoor destinations
Ylläs has been selected as one of the three best outdoor destination in the Nordic countries. It has shared the prize with Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and Levi.
The award was originally intended to be announced at the world's largest tourism event, ITB Berlin, but the event was canceled due to the coronavirus (koronavirus, in Finnish) epidemic. Nevertheless, the jury met and the award was announced this week.
“Ylläs has renewed its brand in 2017 and since then we have been working systematically to make us known as a year-round travel destination. Last year it was chosen as the best excursion destination and this recognition now shows that we have done the right thing,” said Janne- Juhani Haarma, CEO of Visit Ylläs, in a press release.
Last year (2019, Ylläs was awarded as the Tourist Destination of the Year.
At Ylläs, the summer season begins in June and continues throughout the fall until the end of September.
In addition to mountain biking, hiking, canoeing and fishing, are also activities of interest during the summer. Most summer visitors have arrived by car.In winter, it is easy to reach Ylläs by train, bus or plane.
