Finnish police need help finding the perpetrators of a possible gang rape last weekend in Pietarsaari, a coastal town in the Ostrobothnia region.

According to the Ostrobothnia Police Department, the events occurred in the early hours of Saturday 4 July, when a woman born in 1994 from the Pietarsaari area was walking in the direction of the town's Old Harbour (Vanha Satama, in Finnish).

As the victim reported to the police, she was blocked on her way by a red van with three men. After being forced to enter the vehicle's cargo area, she was raped, police says in a press release.

According to police information, during the attack the woman suffered some physical injuries which, however, did not require hospitalization.

Police are investigating the facts as a suspected case of aggravated rape, but currently have no information on the identities of the perpetrators.

For this reason, officers are asking the public for any clues about the suspect trio and the vehicle.
