The Helsinki Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries carried out between 22 September and 12 October 2019 in private homes in Northern Helsinki and Vantaa.

According to Police information, those burglaries mainly took place on detached houses along the railway line. Investigators have included 16 criminal actions in the series.

Helsinki police arrested a man, a Romanian citizen, on 12 October. Since then, he remains in custody on suspicion of aggravated theft.

Pertti Sovelius, director of investigation of the Helsinki Police Department, explained that several valuable items, such as jewelry and electronics, were stolen from the violated homes. According to his statement, the total value of stolen goods is tens of thousands of euros and a large amount of them are still missing.

The Police released several photos of the suspect because they said they consider it "necessary" to investigate the case and to locate the stolen items. During the preliminary investigation they found out that the detainee has been in Finland since 20 September and probably he was staying in the Tikkurila area, in the municipality of Vantaa.

The Police are requesting observations or clues about the man's movements. Any details can be reported by email to [email protected]
