The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) will resume ordinary service in September after the exceptional circumstances caused by the coronavirus epidemic, which forced temporary changes in the way the agency works.
Until now, during the coronavirus epidemic it was possible to send a request in a paper form by post or by email to Migri. But this option will no longer be available after 1 September 2020, the immigration authority announced in its website.
"If we receive an application by post after this date, it will be returned," Migri warned in its latest customer's bulletin.
Customers who have submitted their applications by email or by post before 1 September do not need to schedule an appointment or queue at the service point with a waiting number. They will be contacted by the immigration agency and invited to visit a service point for identification.
"In urgent matters, you can visit the service points of the Finnish Immigration Service and queue using waiting numbers," says Migri in its bulletin, also stressing that "citizenship applications are not usually considered urgent."
On Tuesday 1 September, the Finnish Immigration Service will also reopen its service point at International House Helsinki, where it handles EU registrations by appointment.

Changes to the phone service
The service hours of Migri's Customer Service number 0295 419 600 will change in September. The telephone service hours will be from 8:30 to 15:30 on weekdays.
The service line 0295 419 627, which was meant for questions about our services during the pandemic, will no longer be available after 1 September.
The Finnish Immigration Service asks its clients not to visit service points and to cancel their appointments if they have any symptoms of coronavirus.
