The Finnish Social Security Institution (Kela) has just announced the launch of a customer service phone number in Somali. This initiative intends to facilitate the handling of matters related to Social Security to people who have Somali as their mother tongue.
This new telephone service at 020 634 4905 will be open on Mondays and Fridays from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 15:00, as Kela announced in its website.
Kela aims to improve the quality of this service as its use increases with the collaboration of its customers. In order to do that, the Social Security Institution has encouraged users to send feedback by using its contact service, which can be accessed HERE
"The aim is to make it easier and smoother for Somali speaking customers to handle their matters with Kela. The service is intended to promote integration and reduce the need for interpreter assistance", says the institution on its website.
Kela also expects that, as the language skills of the customers improve, "they will be directed towards using Kela’s Finnish, Swedish or English language services". The customers will also be directed towards using Kela’s online services independently.
