Finnish traffic authorities recorded 427 accidents involving personal injury in August. In them, 22 people were killed and 543 were injured, according to Statistics Finland's latest data.

The number of persons killed was one lower and that of persons injured 36 higher than in august one year before.

Of the persons who were killed, 12 traveled by passenger car, 1 by van and 4 by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 2 and cyclists one. In addition, two other road users were killed.

Among those who died, 14 were men and eight were women.

January-August

So far this year, a total of 2,374 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to August. In them, 149 persons were killed and 2,934 persons injured.

The number of persons killed was 4 higher and that of persons injured 364 lower than in the corresponding period of 2019.

Of the persons who were killed, 89 traveled by passenger car, 7 by van, 15 by motorcycle and 2 by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 14. In addition, 7 other road users were killed.
