Any number of road accident victims is too much. However, in September Finland recorded a significant reduction in the number of people dead and injured on the roads compared with the year before.

In September, 333 accidents involving personal injury happened in Finnish roads. In them, 14 people were killed and 403 injured. The number of people killed was 10 lower and that of injured 70 lower than in September 2019, according to Statistics Finland.

Of the persons who were killed, 9 traveled by passenger car, 1 by van and 1 by moped.

Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered 2. In addition, 1 other road user was killed.

Among those who died, 13 were men and 1 woman.

January-September

The evolution of the number of deathly victims is less hopeful when the total figures for the year are taken into account.

A total of 2,710 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to September period. In them, 166 persons were killed and 3,341 persons injured.

The number of persons killed was only 2 lower and that of persons injured 467 lower than in the corresponding period of 2019.

Of the persons who were killed, 98 travelled by passenger car, eight by van, two by moped, 15 by motorcycle and two by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 18. In addition, 8 other road users were killed.
