The national railway company of Finland (VR) withdrew from circulation the train coaches in which a person carrying the coronavirus could have traveled.

VR communications office reported to Finnish media that a foreign passenger who was travelling on Tuesday evening from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskyla reported symptoms compatible with coronavirus (Covid-19) infection. The traveler had just arrived to the country.

As a precaution, the railway operator decided to remove the coaches from the circulation for cleaning.

The company emphasized this is a precautionary measure. The infection has not yet been confirmed by the Finnish health authority (THL).

Tatu Tuominen, VR Director of Communications Tatu Tuominen, stressed that this decision is based on the passenger's own announcement and it does not necessarily mean that the country is facing another coronavirus case.

Now, the health authorities are evaluating the situation.

Government's concern about the increase in cases of coronavirus is rising. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health also appointed a group to coordinate preparedness to face potential coronavirus spread.
