The year-on-year change in consumer prices calculated by Statistics Finland was 2% in June. In May, inflation stood at 2.2%. The decrease in inflation was partly due to the decrease in the year-on-year growth in fuel prices.
From last June to this June, increases in the prices of petrol, diesel, detached houses and capital repair on detached houses had the largest upward impacts on the consumer price index.
Decreases in the prices of long-distance train journeys, regular ferry service and televisions and the average interest rates on housing loans and consumer credit had the largest downward impacts.
From May to June, consumer prices fell by 0.1%.
Among other things, the prices of clothing and vegetables fell.

Euro area
According to the preliminary data on the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, the rate of inflation in the euro area was 1.9% in June. In May it was 2%. The corresponding figure for Finland was 1.9% in June.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices does not include owner-occupancy, games of chance, interests on consumption and other credits, fire insurance on owner-occupied dwellings, the vehicle tax or fishing and hunting fees.
The consumption items included in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, as well as the rules governing its compilation, have been defined in EU regulations.
