Restrictions on people's mobility and travel continue to crush the air transport business.

According to Statistics Finland's latest data on transport and tourism, 166,408 passengers flew through Finnish airports in February 2021, which was 91% fewer than twelve months earlier.

The drop was equally significant (92%) for Helsinki airport, which accounted for 69% of all passengers at Finnish airports: in February there were 115,395 passengers at Helsinki Airport and 51,013 passengers at other domestic airports.

The combined number of passengers at other airports, with the exception of Helsinki, went down by 88% compared with February 2020.

International passengers

The share of passengers on international flights was 58% at Helsinki Airport and 3% in total at other domestic airports.

In February 2021, air freight and mail transport totalled 11,342 tonnes, which was 25% lower than one year earlier.

In total, 97% of the tonnes passed through Helsinki Airport and 98% were transported in traffic between Finland and foreign countries.
